| Dr. Rouse received his degree in Optometry from the Illinois College of Optometry in 1977 after graduating with a BS from Michigan State University in 1973. In addition, he completed a one year residency in Children's Vision at the Southern California College of Optometry in 1978. Dr. Rouse then joined the Vision Therapy and Pediatric Vision Care Faculty at the Southern California College of Optometry. He has concentrated his career on the clinical care of adults and children with binocular vision and perception anomalies. Dr. Rouse became a member of the American Academy of Optometry in 1980 and achieved Diplomate status in the Binocular Vision and Perception Section of the American Academy of Optometry in 1981. He has served as the Chair of the Binocular Vision and Perception Section. Dr. Rouse has served the National Board of Examiners in Optometry as a member and Chair of the Patient Management Problem section of the Clinical Skills Examination. Dr. Rouse is also a member of the American Optometric Association, California Optometric Association, and the College of Optometrists in Vision Development. He became the Chief of the Vision Therapy Service at the Eye Care Clinic/Optometric Center of Fullerton in 1982. Dr. Rouse is currently a tenured Professor of Optometry and teaches third year pre-clinical courses in the diagnosis and management of strabismus and amblyopia. In addition, he does clinical teaching of optometric interns and residents in the Vision Therapy Service. To enhance his teaching abilities he completed a MS in Education in 1985. He has lectured extensively in continuing education as well as producing an extensive publication record (over 60 publications) in the subject areas of binocular vision, vision and learning, and Pediatric Optometry. He co-authored a popular textbook entitled, Clinical Management of Strabismus, and co-edited two other books; Optometric Management of Learning-Related Vision Problems and Clinical Decision Making in Optometry. Dr. Rouse is currently on the planning committee of a national research study regarding the diagnosis and management of convergence insufficiency. |
