A Second-Year Student takes a fun and informative look at student life at SCCO.

Thirty-two students from SCCO attended the annual meeting of the American Optometric Association (AOA) in Washington DC in June. One of the highlights of the week was the Optometry Student Bowl. Read more about the activities at the meeting and upcoming events in the July 2009 issue of AOSA News.

The First-Year Welcome BBQ is organized by the president pro-tem. It is a chance for faculty and students to get to know the incoming, first-year class.
Blood drives are held throughout the school year and are organized by the Department of Community Health. Students and faculty do their part in sustaining the nation’s blood supply.
The Annual Volleyball Tournament is organized by the Department of Extracurricular activities. Students battle it out for the ultimate championship title!
First-year students are welcomed into the profession each year during a White Coat Ceremony. They receive their first white coats and recite the Optometric Oath for Students, which was written by the College.

Partnerships in Optometry is put on by the Department of Education, an annual event where SCCO students can learn about different practice modalities and the "real world" of optometry beyond optometry school.
